Welcome to the Sacred Hunger Journal and Blog

I hope this is a place where you will join me to discuss topics related to the mind-body-spirit disconnect that is at the center of all addictive symptoms, so that we might learn how to heal ourselves back to wholeness, how to live from the heart and connect to the One Planet and all the beings on it, in harmony and peace.
I’d also like for this to be a place for us to explore what it means to live sacredly, to learn how to live consciously and mindfully and to be inspired, wild and creative human beings.

December 3, 2006

My soulful expression needs to put all the words aside and bathe in color and texture.  So I need to engage in activities that are colorful, like painting (I painted all my walls this summer) and collage and knitting (I knit crazy handbags out of scraps of colorful fabric).  These activities put me in touch with a different part of my brain that exists somewhere beyond the ordinary.  During the years of raising my children, except for when they were young and played a lot, I lost this soulful connection to myself and felt angry and irritated a lot of the time.  I really thought I was, a joyless person with little energy for creative pursuits.  Anyone who knows the essence of me, gapes in surprise when I tell them that I lost years of myself to the daily grind of work and more work. I’ll post some of my collages next.

December Nurture

It’s fun to play with fabric.  A great way to nurture.
Here are some examples of my first attempt at fabric collage using embroidary and beads, which I know nothing about.

I did this first.  It is fabric paint on fabric and collaged onto board.  then I added scribbles with markers.

Then I did another one:
